Welcome to St. Joseph
If you’ve never been to the Village of St. Joseph, I welcome you to come soon for a visit. You can visit our village from the highway or the trail way. St. Joseph is located just 11 miles from Champaign/Urbana with easy access from highway U.S. Route 150 or I-74. But the most relaxing and scenic way to visit is biking or hiking the Kickapoo Rail Trail. By traveling the bike trail you’ll experience the beauty that Central Illinois has to offer. Along the trail you’ll enjoy beautiful corn and soy bean fields; busy grain elevators and a quiet cemetery; butterflies and bunnies; old rail trestle over the Salt Fork River and natural wetlands. These are only a few of the treasures you’ll find along the way. But the best surprise of all is the destination reaching the Village of St. Joseph.
The Village encourages you to enjoy our unique variety of places to eat or just sit back with a delicious treat. St. Joseph offers many choices: Farm to Table; Burgers and Beers; Tasty food made from Scratch; BBQ and Bourbon; Traditional Mexican; Pizza and of course fast food to go! If a simple treat is what you’re looking for, we have yummy Ice Cream and Lattes; Protein Shakes and Energy Drinks or our very own Winery!
Take a tour around our Village. We are proud of our three neighborhood parks. Kolb Park is the Village’s oldest park located just off the trail as you come in from the west and BJ Hackler Park located on the north side of the Village. But the Village’s pride and joy is our sports complex on the east edge of town. The Woodard Community Park Sports Complex was a community effort with 40 acres of green space developed through grants, volunteers and donations. The first phase and part of the second phase have been completed with softball, baseball, football, and soccer fields. A fabulous pavilion/concession stand, basketball courts, pickle ball courts, and playground. The walking path is partially complete with plans to extend the entire perimeter of the park and someday we dream of an adding a community building to be built on the site.
As you can see St. Joseph is a great destination to visit for the day, but I have to let you in on a little secret. The Village of St. Joseph has the best small town living with big city access! By bordering the banks of the Salt Fork River and close proximity to the Homer Lake Forest Preserve, St. Joseph has the best of both worlds. You’re able to experience beautiful nature and have the ability to stay in touch with other parts of the region. Just 15 minutes away the Village has easy access to a World Class University; two community colleges-one to the west and one to east; state-of-the art medical facilities; exciting nightlife and entertainment; convenient transportation options; and many other useful options to complete your life. We welcome you to make St. Joseph your permanent home. Our Village is everything that small town America is all about. We offer a grade school and high school with exceptional reputations for excellent academics along with state qualifying extracurricular programs; active churches; library; many organized youth programs including sports, dance, scouts and 4-H; social activities for senior citizens; groceries; banks; funeral home; pharmacy; eye clinic; doctor and chiropractors; dance studio; antiques; specialty shops; travel and insurance agents; gas stations; beauty shops; auto repair and the list goes on. The Village has everything to offer you comfortable easy living.
But the Village of St. Joseph is so much more that a town with great access and amenities, it’s a town with a great Community of people. The quality of people who live and play in our Village is truly what makes St. Joseph the place you want to call home! We have the friendliest and most caring group of residents just waiting to call you neighbor.
So this is your invitation to make a visit to the Village of St. Joseph. But better yet stay a while longer and be a part of a Great Community!
