Village Reminds Residents They May Opt Out of Electric Aggregation Program at Any Time Without Penalty
Ameren Illinois has announced a new residential summer electric supply rate of 11.3 cents per kilowatthour effective Friday, June 1. The rate is approximately six-tenths of one cent lower than the Village’s municipal electric aggregation rate of 11.89 cents per kilowatt-hour through the summer season.
For a typical residential customer who uses 1,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per month June through September, the difference between the Ameren rate and the Village electric aggregation rate is approximately $6 per month. Ameren later this year will again adjust its rate for the eight months between October and May 2027.
Village officials reminded residents participating in the aggregation program that they retain freedom of choice in their electric supplier and may leave the aggregation program at any time without cost or penalty. Under the Village’s contract with supplier Homefield Energy, residents may opt out at any time using either of the following methods:
· Call Homefield Energy toll-free at 866-694-1262. Residents may select the callback option to avoid waiting on hold. · Visiting Homefield online, https://myaccount.homefieldenergy.com/opt-out?utm
Residents choosing to opt out should have their 10-digit Ameren account number available. The Ameren account number serves as the required “Opt-Out Code.”
Electric supply of residents who opt out will automatically return to Ameren Illinois or to another alternative retail electric supplier selected by the resident.
Aggregation rules require residents who leave the program and who do not enroll with another supplier or return to the Village program within two months to remain with Ameren electric supply service for a total of 12 months.
The Village also maintains answers to frequently asked questions regarding the aggregation program on its website. Additional information is available by contacting Homefield Energy toll-free at 866-694-1262.
