Champaign County Sheriff's Department
The Village contracts its law enforcement services with the Champaign County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) and therefore does not maintain its own police department. While not a Village department, the CCSO plays a vital role in ensuring the Village remains and peaceful and safe place to live, work, learn, and play. The CCSO is lead by a county-wide elected Sheriff.
The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office provides primary law enforcement service for approximately 50,000 residents in the unincorporated areas of Champaign County and assists municipalities who have their own law enforcement agencies. The Sheriff’s office is also responsible for oversight of two correctional facilities, providing court security at the Champaign County Courthouse, and overseeing emergency management within the county. The CCSO operates with the following divisions:
- Law Enforcement Division
- Court Security Division
- Corrections Division
- Emergency Management Agency
